ahh... sorry dweeb. couldn't resist :D
It's been a non-stop rollarcoaster ride of experiences and emotions.
I should really start blogging from a week ago when I had a theatrical marathon with a bunch of vjc idiots. :) SO that is where I shall begin...
Wednesday 27th May - Friday 29th May
TopGirls on Wednesday at DBS Arts Centre. An extremely cosy theatre with a full house in fact. However, it wasn't one of the best performances I've seen, was actually rather disappointed. It might have helped if I watched it as a Lit student rather than a TSD one to be honest. Gabriel slept through the second half of the play, I reckon most of us were struggling to stay awake... which was a pity. Though I'd have to agree with Nat that the performance actually made us 100times more confused about everything... Bigger bummer of all I suppose.
So, because of a disappointing first show, I felt that maybe my standards were being set a tad bit too high which leads to my disappointment in the end.
On Thurs, I set off to Fort Canning with Adeeb not expecting anything from Much ado about nothing and... OH. MY. WORD. I was bloody awestruck. First and foremost, the SET. The gorgeous sky high wooden doors and pool smack in the middle of the space! The gorgeous lighting and most wonderful of ambiances... it was just absolutely breathtaking. The acting, Adrian pang, was BRILLIANT! It's been awhile since I've been to enthralled by a piece of theatre and it was certainly the most magical of moments... and no ladies, it's not because our dear sexy leading man was nicely butt-naked on stage with the totally drool-proof body. :P
On friday was Dwayne's production, Fairytale Hearts. And just when I thought Thursday night was good, Friday's performance blew my mind inside out. I was positively drawn in and captivated by the concept, and the set but more importantly, the acting and the dialogue. The atmosphere was so surreal as everyone was so properly engaged, and okay, yes, i cried... twice. It really is a beautiful script that... and the direction was almost flawless.
I was extremely impressed, amazed, touched... inspired. The plot itself held so much meaning and even though it might have seemed slightly childish, it reminded me that despite our want to be grown up and wonderful, we are still kids who yearn for the fairytale ending and it's the cold, harsh truth of reality which forces us to grow up faster and have a cynical view to our world. Yet, there are some who hide behind the smiles and stories to fill the emptiness and the pain. Still, in the end, it is imagination and dreams that allow us to find a meeting point to see life as a beacon of beautiful light, to feel bliss, to feel love.
Thank you for that wonderful production.
I have been inspired.
After which, a couple of us headed to the beach for a good ole dose of fun, and chilling. After that me and Val headed back to hers for some shut eye :D finally. :P I really do need to upload these crazy pictures from as far back as the Soccer finals! :P Sorry guys.
Alright, this is going to be my update for the theatre shows, I will be putting up my Pre-U sem tribute extremely soon. <3>
